KVPY last minute details
Hi guys. The KVPY exam is soon going to be upon us. I would want you to have a great experience while giving this exam. I hope this post gives you some idea as to how to solve the paper.
First off I would like to begin with that NO EXTRA PREPARATION is necessary for this particular exam. The KVPY people say that the syllabus is from class 11 and 12 and they mean it. A very thorough study and review of the LAST YEAR'S PAPERS should be enough to get you through the first round. However if you do want to go for some extra studies try to study these topics in A LITTLE detail.
Biology
1) Genetics (Mendelian and Molecular)
2) Ecosystem
3) Animal Physiology
4) Plant physiology
(I know this list seems to cover all the important topics and that is why I say that your knowledge of the regular syllabus should be enough provided that you have gone through the previous year's papers well enough.)
How to attempt the paper?
this part of the post is only important for the students in class 12 (I failed miserably in class 11 so I don't really know about that)
For the BIOLOGY people the answer seems to be straight forward. These is how I attempted to solve the paper.
Part 1
Physics
Chemistry
Biology
Part 2
Biology
Chemistry
You should feel free to solve whatever topics you want as long as you have enough confidence in them. Just note that attempting physics in the second round might take more time than attempting chemistry.
Also, it is important to know that there is MORE THAN ENOUGHT TIME if you attempt the above set of questions. So what I did was that I reduced my question reading speed to such an extent that it was as if I was trying to read for the first time. This helped me a great deal to reduce my silly mistakes. (Bragging : I only made one silly mistake in the entire paper and scored 84.25 /100).
Please DO NOT forget your CALCULATORS. I solved all the maths equations on the calculator even if I had to do 2+2 = 4 I checked the calculator once.
So I hope you do great in your exams. Godspeed young lads.
